Position: Legal Manager

Key Responsibilities

Legal Agreements and Documentation

• Lead drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements related to content acquisition, licensing, syndication, and distribution.
• Ensure all agreements comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain and oversee a comprehensive contract database; proactively monitor key dates such as renewals and expirations.

Content Rights Management

• Manage all legal aspects of acquiring and protecting intellectual property rights (IPR).
• Oversee legal documentation for content rights and handle dispute resolution related to content rights.

Coordination with External Legal Teams

• Serve as the primary liaison with legal teams of partner companies for negotiations and conflict resolution.
• Coordinate and manage external counsels for case preparation, filings, and hearings.

Representation and Advocacy

• Represent the company in legal proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Lead legal meetings with partners, producers, and stakeholders to resolve issues and finalize agreements.

Team Leadership and Training

• Manage and mentor a legal team, clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and goals.
• Provide training on contract management and legal compliance.
• Ensure the team stays informed on legal and regulatory developments impacting the content and entertainment industry.

Compliance and Risk Mitigation

• Ensure company-wide compliance with intellectual property, broadcasting, and licensing laws.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks.

Policy Development

• Lead the development and updating of internal policies related to content rights, privacy, and compliance.
• Support senior management in safeguarding the company’s intellectual property through policy enforcement.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) required.
• Master’s degree in Law (LLM) preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in legal roles, preferably within media, entertainment, or content licensing industries.
• Proven expertise in intellectual property rights, contract law, and litigation.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of intellectual property laws, contract drafting, and compliance regulations.
• Exceptional negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external partners.
• Proficient in legal tools and contract management software.
